Jailer Leland Cox was born and raised in Barren County. Cox graduated from Glasgow High School in 1968. In 1971 Cox married Debbie Church and had one daughter, Nikki Poland. Cox has farmed his entire life and continued when he then became a Deputy Sheriff on the staff of Sheriff Barney Jones in 1990. Cox was elected Barren County Jailer in 2002. In 2006 he was elected to serve as a director on the Kentucky Jailer Association's Board of Directors. In Jailer Cox's leisure time he continues to farm and enjoy time with his family and his grandsons, Lane Carter and Charlie Ray.
